Turkish Religious NGO Known By Its Sexual Abuse Scandals Opening a Dormitory in America

TURGEV ​​and Ensar Foundation are preparing to open a dormitory in the United States, abcgazete reported in Turkish. Bilal Erdogan, son of Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is a member of the Board of Directors TURGEV. TURGEV also involves many other family members of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan beside Bilal Erdogan. Its board also includes daughter (Esra Albayrak), son-in law’s brother (Serhat Albayrak), brother in-law (Ziya Ilgen), Bilal’s mother-in-law (Reyhan Uzuner), and his daughter’s relative by marriage (Hafize Sule Albayrak).

On the other hand Ensar foundation has been linked to a sexual abuse cases at the past. In the city of Karaman 45 boys has been exposed to sexual abuse while staying in Ensar foundation related home and dormitories. According to the indictment, the assaults started in 2012 and continued until last year. The children say they were aged between 10 and 12 years old when they were first abused.

The lawyer for five of the children’s families, Oktay Yilmaz, finds it very difficult to talk about what the children went through.

One of students resisted his family to go school and family asked for help from a psychiatrist. The chid confessed to psychiatrist watching animal porn with his teacher and psychiatrist reported that to police.

When the story broke up, thousands of people tweeted under the hashtag #StopChildAbuseinTurkey to share their frustration about what they perceived as attempts to cover up the scandal.

“They’re one hundred per cent lying,” Sera Kadıgil, a lawyer and member of the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) who went to Karaman with a delegation and reviewed all the case files, said she fears the problem may be widespread and systemic.

The trial began of a 54-year-old teacher accused of sexually abusing 10 children in what are alleged to be guesthouses run illegally by two Islamic foundations – one of which, the Ensar Foundation, has close links to the Turkish government.

Hürriyet daily news paper columnist Vahap Munyar shared details of Turkey Youth and Education Service Foundation (TÜRGEV) and the Ansar Foundation’s plan. Mr. Munyar wrote that a $ 20 million worth of plot has already been bought and plan for construction is on the way. He reported following about the subject during his travel to Malaysia with Bilal Erdogan. The relevant part of Vahap Munyar’s writing is as follows:
